Gromada Partner of the 10th Tourism Promotion Forum
OST Gromada
The jubilee 10th edition of Tourist Promotion Forum will be held in nine days, on Wednesday 6 April. The Forum will be held at the Orientarium in Łódź. Partner of the event is Polish National Tourist Cooperative “Gromada”, celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.
On February 10, 1937, on the initiative of the Union of Rural Youth “Wici”, the Trade Union of Cooperative Workers, Cooperative Farming and Agricultural Organizations, the Tourism and Recreation Cooperative “Gromada” was established.
The idea of organizing a tourist cooperative was brought by Kazimierz Wyszomirski, the first chairman of Gromada, from Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, where he had participated in the work of the Slavic Union of Rural Youth. The first “Gromada” office was located next to the current seat of OST “Gromada”, in the building of Agricultural Cooperatives in Warsaw at 11 a Warecka Street.
The first Gromada hotel (put into use on September 9, 1961) was a building in Warsaw at Powstancow Warszawy Square 2 with the name “Dom Chlopa” (Peasant’s House) which is still recognizable today.
Currently Gromada is 11 objects in Poland – hotels in Busko Zdroj, Łomża, Koszalin, Piła, Poznań, Radom, Toruń, Warsaw and Zakopane and resorts in Krynica Zdroj and Międzyzdroje.
As Mr. Krzysztof Moczulski, president of OST Gromada emphasizes: “Ogólnokrajowa Spółdzielnia Turystyczna “Gromada”, is a Polish company with 100% of Polish capital. Polish capital, with its roots in the Polish peasant tradition.
The Forum will be held on April 6 at the Orientarium in Lodz.
The organizer is the editors of the industry portal WaszTurystyka.en.
Co-organizers are: The Lodz Tourist Organization and Orientarium at the Lodz Zoo.
The partners are: Marshal’s Office of the Mazowieckie Province, City of Olsztyn, State Enterprise “Airports”, Israel Government Tourist Office, Croatian Tourist Community.
